Born and reared in Chattanooga Tennessee, Marguerite Anderson began her "art career" as soon as she was able to pick up a drawing utensil.
By the time she was 15, she was an artist/partner in a commercial art agency that designed billboards and ads for banks and other businesses in the Chattanooga area. As she followed this new business opportunity she still continued in the pursuit of Fine Arts--her true love. She was commissioned to do many portraits and other paintings by local clients during this time.
Marguerite is primarily self-taught, however she began her art studies at the age of eight at the Hunter Art Museum in Chattanooga, TN. She continued her art studies at UTC as well as ORU in Oklahoma. Among artists who have inspired and influenced her are Dr. Rafael and Martha de Niera of Spain whom she is glad to count as mentors and dear friends.
In her 20s she began working as an illustration artist; designing book and magazine covers as well as illustrating many other publications and working with publishing companies such as David C. Cooke, United Methodist Publishing House, White Wing Publishing and AMG international.
In 1991 she began a line of original sculptures which were made into limited edition resin figurines and are now enjoyed in Canada and Europe as well as the United States.
Marguerite's art is part of many private collections as well as many organization collections.
Marguerite expresses her art through the different mediums of oil, pencil, charcoal, pastel as well as sculptures in clay. Although she does paint landscapes she is best known for her portraits and character studies.
