Children's author, Abi Elphinstone, grew up in Scotland where she spent most of her childhood building dens, hiding in tree houses and running wild across highland glens. After being coaxed out of her tree house, Abi studied English at Bristol University and then worked as an English teacher in Africa, Berkshire and London. Her debut children’s novel for 9-12year-olds, THE DREAMSNATCHER is out now.

A customer review by Aimee - A truly enchanting and magical debut
“Wow, wow, WOW!! I absolutely LOVED this book! It is one of the best debut's I've ever read. I just could not put it down and read it in less than a day as a result.
This book is fast paced, magical and so full of charm that I simply fell in love with it. I loved the bond between Moll and Gryff and I'm now wishing that I had my own wildcat.
I could not think of a better story to pass onto children to encourage them to explore the outdoors and get to know nature. I also thinks it offers a different perspective on Gypsy travellers and that we should all be at peace with our surroundings and really look after the nature around us as nothing stays the same forever.
I adored Moll's headstrong personality and how she does what every child does best and tries to develop their own personality by not always doing as they're told. In a way she is a free spirit and I like that as I think everyone at some point should have some experience of that in their lifetime.
I think Abi wrote the story beautifully and really captured elements of her own childhood wonderfully throughout which hopefully will encourage children to be creative and build their own dens.
I have not been this enchanted in a long time and I'm so glad that I was not disappointed as I had been so excited about this book and had fallen in love with the book trailer. I'm going to be recommending this book for a long long time to come and can't wait to see what the sequel entails.
